The Berks

So far, so good. I think. I mean, I know I'm having a good time. The panels are amazing, the casual conversations intriguing. I do feel a bit out of my element, as everybody here knows so much more than I do about... everything. However, there is a lovely feeling of cooperation and welcome, and that's been fabulous. And the book exhibit is drool-worthy.

I realized yesterday that what I thought I knew about R was based on vague preconceptions based on nothing. That prompted some discomfiting but rewarding self-reflection, which was useful this morning. The first panel I went to was about 'secularism' and while it wasn't what I expected, I learned a lot. And lo and behold, seated behind me was a specialist/practioner of R. So she was nice and gave me some info on where to find out more about the historical and contemporary manifestations and beliefs of R. And confirmed that yes, R was based in H-D traditions. So that part of my preconception-based-on-ignorance was actually right! So much to learn.

The problem with Berks, IMHO, is that there are so many fabulous panels that run concurrently. I am currently dithering over two - in separate buildings at the same precise time. Gah.

Mega thanks to ADM & Janice for sharing a lunch and conversation, at a time when I was feeling a bit at sea with all these people. Now - back into the hordes of happy people!

P.S. I keep wondering how the house-painting is going, and how my cat A is doing at the vet. Scattered thinking, hence the name of the blog.

I'm thrilled that we got to meet up in person and share professional aspirations as well as all sorts of personal tidbits. I, too, wait to hear how your house-painting has progressed!

Sounds like you're having fun! But oh, I know what you mean when two sessions are running concurrently that one would to attend.
