- Returned home Sunday morning: floors horrifying, dust everywhere, middling chaos. Light fixtures in living and dining/book room have to be reinstalled by electrician. Spent Sunday cleaning. Bought one of these, and went over the living room hardwood floor 6-8 times before the clean water looked relatively like water vs mud. Then three coats of Mop-N-Glo on the living room floor. During drying periods, laundry (washing machine quit spinning, oh fun) and work on back room, kitchen and breakfast room floors. Steamed those twice, and they are still a godawful mess. Didn't have the energy to even begin on any other room. Did manage to unearth/dejunk my bedroom, strip off linens and get that room semi-livable. Vacuumed the walls in the breakfast room, where the dust on the (previous owner's) Venetian plaster looked more like zebra stripes than anything else. Exhausted and sore.
- Apparently I need a new roof on my garage. Whee. $$$$$
- Monday, back in classes, was so stiff, sore and grumpy that students should've been warned away. Staggering and swearing at body all day, wasn't happy to get back to my home mess. Whereupon...
- I had my first stained-glass class at the local vo-tec. Well, local is relative. It's about 15 miles away, 10 up a busy freeway/expressway and then 5 miles out into the boonies. That went from 6:30-9, and I got home about 9:30. It'll be an interesting class, and maybe even lots of fun. Each week we'll make a project, learning techniques. He says by the time the class is over, we'll have the basic skills to create our own piece from a pattern. Then there's another advanced class in the session/term immediately following, in which they make a Tiffany-style lamp. Before next Monday's class, I have to visit a glass shop and buy materials and tools. $$
- This morning, I'm waiting for the electrician and the lady from Merry Maids. Who came only a few minutes late, gave me a very reasonable bid, and scheduled her crew to do a deep cleaning on my house Saturday. In the manner of their profession, the electrician is to be here between 10 & 12. $$ The washer repairman will be here Friday afternoon (1-5). $$$ Waiting for call-backs on the roofing project.
- Money vanishing; wish it were the problems. I'm blessed in that the money isn't freaking me out. And doesn't need to, according to my money man. STill. A lifetime of worrying about money doesn't vanish overnight. Or over-year.
