I've been trying to figure out how to get a video slideshow of my Egypt trip loaded up to YouTube. It is very frustrating.
Finally got a little 2 minute gizmo up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjS1AXC48x4
or
But - and this is making me just crazy - if I do a search for it, I can't find the silly thing. So I am just going to try the 'unlisted' category and see if there're any problems. But then, I can't seem to get it to work on my Apple TV YouTube, which is just damned annoying.
Anybody got any advice? Oh. And if you're interested, go look at the pictures of Giza, Memphis and Saqqara. Be happy to answer questions if I can. Other segments coming up: Luxor (West Valley, Deir el Medina, Dier el Bahri, Ramsesseum, Abydos, etc.), Sailing the Nile (Esna, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Silsia, Aswan), Aswan (Lake Nasser & the High Dam, sailing around Aswan, tombs of the Nobles, Philae, Elephantine and Kitchener's Island), Old Cairo, Amarna & Minya.
Grrr. Technology is great when you can make it work.
UPDATE: 1) Read instructions. It seems it takes a while to be searchable. 2) Now that I know this works, I'll be posting the other seven segments. Soon. Like, hopefully, tonight.

Sorry I don't know anything about uploading to You Tube. Let me know when you've done it though cause I'd love to see your pics!
I have some questions! First, how did you achieve the zooming in/out effect on the photos, and I'm very intrigued by that kind of rounded pyramid at Saqquara (sp?). Did the Egyptians make an engineering mistake?
Macs have a built in "Ken Burns effect" in the photo editing software. The rounded pyramid is the oldest form of the pyramid. Originally it was a step pyramid (it is still called the Step Pyramid of Saqqara) - and made from mud brick (like the ziggurats of Mesopotamia). That one is about 4,000 years old, so the rounded appearance is just erosion; the scaffolding is an attempt to protect it and it's structure. The tomb bits were under the pyramid; in later pyramids, when they went to using stone, the tomb areas were inside the structure itself.
I can't wait to see those Egypt videos that I glanced at today. :-) Thanks for sharing them.
